I’ve been reading and chatting a lot lately about the impact User Experience Design can/is having on healthcare. Was pleased to find there’s an annual conference (Hrx) specifically targeted at improving health experiences through technology & design. There’s also a Healthcare UX weekly which I’ve recently subscribed to. Excellent & exciting stuff.
CSS Sans claims to be the first webfont created entirely through modern CSS. Each individual letter is wrapped by a single DIV tag.
Excellent article from the folks over at GoSquared about the process & design thinking that went in to their recent overhaul of the login experience. Beautiful.
Congrats to Susan Kare for her MOMA recognition. I remember meeting & working with her on an icon design project very early in my career. This is very cool to see & well deserved award.
A Brief History Of User Experience Design LOOK TO THE PAST, WHETHER 1430 OR 1930, FOR CLUES AS TO WHERE USER EXPERIENCES ARE HEADING.
Cool visual trampoline effect! Gotta find a site/app that “needs” this
Very interesting article on fastcodesign on why they think the Apple iWatch is going to fail. I’ve never considered myself a full fledged Apple fanboy, but I do admit to having an excessive amount of “i” products in my possession. However, I stopped wearing watches years ago & I can’t see a path back – iWatch or not. This quote sums it up pretty well:
“When I look at the Apple Watch, I’m not seeing an empathetic creation for the masses. I’m seeing what the New Yorker’s more than 16,000-word story on Jonathan Ive would only hint at—that Apple may have built out the watch to satisfy the urges of a designer who has become more obsessed with Bentleys and Rolexes than making attractive, functional technology that will actually make life better for the 99%.”
Really nice online tool for calculating & visualizing type selections. Added bonus that it’ll generate the CSS for you as well.
Polarr is a really impressive online photo editor. This is the first web-based tool I’ve seen with Pro Lightbox-like features.
